Travel the Route of 1000 Kasbahs in Marrakech

Author: Nick Wrightman
Source: ezinearticles.com

A Marrakech holiday is one full of exotic and rich culture. As you wander the souks and sample the tagline, you will experience a world a million miles away from your own. But outside of the city walls there is an entirely different world awaiting you. Your holiday in Marrakech will take a different turn as you journey the Route of 1000 Kasbahs towards the Atlas Mountains.

Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate, known to the Moroccans as ‘the door of the desert’, is the first stop for those wishing to take their Marrakech holidays out of the city. South of the High Atlas Mountains, the Berber province has become known for the fortified city or ksah, Ait Benhaddou. This beautifully structured, mud-brick fortification contains many wonderful examples of Kasbahs and, though most inhabitants have moved on, it still houses twelve families who repair the damage the ksah suffers with each heavy rainfall. As you make your way up through the city you’ll pass collections of goods crafted by these dwellers, which you can buy as an entirely unique souvenir of your trip. A particularly impressive example of the Moroccan Kasbahs, Ait Benhaddou has been the setting for many successful movies, including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, Alexander and The Mummy.

Dades Gorge

Travel a little further into the Atlas Mountains themselves, and you will find the Dades Gorge. The marvellous colours of the valley are the first thing to notice, with the green riverbed lined with volcanic red rock. Impressive Kasbahs are dotted over the landscape, blending in with the soil and rocks so that you have to look twice to see them. The winding roads take you through the magnificent scenery and lush palms of the mountains, and past fascinating landscapes, including the bizarre rock formation known as ‘the Monkey Fingers’ due to its uncanny resemblance. Venturing into the Dades Gorge allows you to see breathtaking backdrops unlike anything you will see in Marrakech. Holidays to Morocco are enormously enriched by the colourful landscapes of the Dades Gorge.

The Skoura Oasis

Found in the middle of the Dades Plain, the Skoura Oasis radiates an air of peace. The immense palm groves make visitors feel as if they have been wrapped up in nature itself. However the main reason to visit the Skoura Oasis, other than the sense of tranquillity, is to view the Amerhidl Kasbah. This 17th Century Kasbah is immortalised on the back of the 50 dirham note, and is one of the more fascinating Kasbahs in Morocco. You can take a tour of the mud-brick building, venturing through prayer rooms and kitchens that have been preserved all these years and be amused when your guide shows you traditional artefacts along the way, such as old-fashioned door locks and hairbrushes, to see if you can work out how they were once used. Resembling an Eastern castle, you can gaze out over the ramparts at the desert views and rows of palm trees, enjoying the peace after what was likely to have been a frantic start to your holiday in Marrakech.

Todra Gorge

Slightly less secluded but equally magnificent is the Todra Gorge, found on the east side of the mountains. Cool your feet in the stream running through the gorge, and watch as Moroccan families go about their business – swimming, washing fruit, and even doing their laundry. One of the most dramatic sights to be seen in Morocco, standing at the bottom of this cut in the mountain looking up at the dizzying height of the walls above, you will be glad that you ventured out of Marrakech. Holiday makers from all over Morocco travel to the Todra Gorge regularly, in order to enjoy the cool, fresh streams running through the gorge.

Marrakech holidays are undoubtedly full of dramatic and fascinating culture that you are unlikely to have experienced before. But the areas surrounding Marrakech and stretching into the Atlas Mountains have so much to offer. For truly outstanding landscapes, be sure to head out of Marrakech along the Route of 1000 Kasbahs.

Author: Debarati Dhar
Source: articledashboard.com

The word ‘holiday’ has got different meanings in different countries. The meaning of the word ‘holiday’ can be inferred by dividing the word into two separate parts holy and day. So, holidays can be represented as special religious days. In today’s world, holidays are considered as a period spent away from home or business in travel or recreation.
“To many people holidays are not voyages of discovery, but a ritual of reassurance.” Holidays generally include travel to some favourite destination, be it very near or far off. Whether you choose to travel far or near, holidays generally incur a good amount of money. However, not everyone is financially steady enough to make the expenses for holidays. And, that’s when Holiday Loans come in handy. Holiday Loans are a version of personal loans which is specially crafted to pay off the expenses for your holidays.

Holiday loans can broadly be classified into two types: Secured Holiday Loans and Unsecured Holiday Loans. Just like any other type of unsecured loan, an Unsecured Holiday Loan doesn’t require collateral and is available to both home owners as well as tenants. In contrast, a Secured Holiday Loan is restricted to home owners only and necessitates collateral. However, Secured Holiday Loans carries lower interest rate as compared to unsecured ones. The type of collateral required in a Secured Holiday Loan could be many, like, cars, shares, home and any other valuable assets. Yet, the final decision about the type of the collateral lies at the discretion of your lender.

Holiday Loans are highly flexible in nature. A Holiday Loan in general doesn’t restrict you to spend the money for holiday purposes only; rather you can spend the amount as you want. Holiday Loans enable you to avail a loan amount ranging from ฃ3000 to ฃ25,000. However, if you can afford then you can avail holiday loans of value ฃ25,000-ฃ100,000.

When you are on for a holiday, most of the borrowers generally tend to overspend. This habit might turn into a serious financial threat. Financial Experts urge that you can avoid this threat by following some of the basic tips for dealing with holiday debt: keep track of your bills, create a monthly budget, and finally, recognize the early warning signs of debt trouble.

UK lending market is flooded with Holiday Loans and lenders. The overwhelming nature of the market might leave you in a confused state. So, it is advisable for you to educate yourself with the jargons used in the market. Compare, analyze and assess deals from various lenders. This will help you to narrow down your search. Before applying for the Holiday Loan, make sure you understand all the terms and terminologies and the rate offered. Select the deal that suits your pocket and requirements.

At this time of year more and more of us are starting to dream of that warm, sun drenched holiday, happily whiling away the hours on a sandy beach, sipping cocktails and topping up our tans. With the expense of Christmas just around the corner you may be delaying the search for your summer holiday until the bank balance has recovered from the festive excesses. But holiday prices at this time of year are cheaper than ever so now is the ideal time to look around, bag a bargain and banish the winter blues. When booking a holiday you have two options to get the best deal, either book early or go for a last minute deal. A little time spent considering the pros and cons of these options can save you both money and stress further down the line. Early bookers can take advantage of some great deals and get the pick of the best locations. If you are sure of the area you want to visit then this option will guarantee you get your preferred location and accommodation at the best price. Many popular destinations are snapped up months in advance so it pays to get in early. If you have holiday dates in mind then booking now can also save you the disappointment of losing out by booking at the last minute. If you don’t have a preferred location and are flexible about your travel dates then you may be better to wait for a last minute deal. Holiday retailers often lower their prices a few weeks before the holiday season kicks off, so if you’re lucky you can grab a real bargain. If, however, you have a little more flexibility with your travel times then holding off for a last minute deal can mean considerable savings on holiday packages, giving you extra cash to splash out on some fun activities while you’re away. If you are on a tight budget then planning ahead is key. You can spread the cost over the next few months so you won’t find yourself with a major expenditure crippling your bank balance just before your departure. Whenever you start to look for your dream holiday it pays to hunt online for good deals that just can’t be found in your local travel agents. Many online holiday operators offer discounts and special arrangements to forward thinking holiday makers so, although time consuming, it can be cost effective for the budget traveller. Opting to organise your own flights in advance makes good financial sense and ensures you secure one of those precious plane seats to your dream location from the most convenient airport, and booking your own hotel can often work out cheaper than a package deal. Flight operators, such as Ryanair, and luxury hotel chains such as Ibis and Accor Hotels, regularly offer early and late discounts so you can pick and choose what suits you best. Whenever and wherever you decide to book your holiday make sure you shop around to make the most of those precious weeks away.

How to Plan Kenya Safari Holidays

Author: Paul Shipway
Source: ezinearticles.com

If you are thinking of taking a safari holiday you should definitely consider Kenya. You will find something in Kenya that will suit everyone’s tastes. Kenya safari holidays are a great way to holiday whether you are alone, as a couple, or the entire family. Kenya has forty national parks with a wide range of animals, so everyone will find something they love about this trip.

While on Kenya safari holidays you will have the chance to see lions, giraffes, and zebras but these sightings cannot be guaranteed of course. However the longer your safari expedition is the more likely you will be to sight these magnificent creatures. Day break is the most likely time to see wildlife and there are many tours that start at this time, so you will want to plan to take one of these day break expeditions.

You can choose to book an expedition that travels in a 4×4, minibus, or open back truck. There are also overnight trips or several day expeditions. Before you book your Kenya safari holiday you will want to find out how experienced the guides are, as an experienced guide will make your trip much safer.

There are many packages for you to choose from when booking your safari holidays so you will want to take your time finding the right package for you and your family. Some packages are a great value and all meals will be included in the price of the package. You could also buy a package where you are expected to bring cash for your food. When making your reservations you may also want to find out if the vehicle you will be in has air conditioning or not. It is very hot in Kenya and without air conditioning you may need to take measures to stay cool.

Booking your safari well in advance will not only give you reservations but will also save you money. Most prices for children are discounted but some safaris will not allow children five and under. When booking your room at the lodge or hotel you may want to find out what amenities they offer. Some of the lodges may have swimming pools and air conditioning while others only have the very basic of necessities.

Another great safari experience is the migration of the wildebeest and zebras. You will need information on when this takes place and where to see it. Every year these animals take an eighteen hundred mile trek that leads them to Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve. You will never forget this amazing site as there are usually about one and a half million wildebeest that migrate. However this is a hard trip for them to make and usually about 250,000 wildebeest do not make it.

You need to take into consideration your budget when booking a Kenya safari holiday package. Some of these packages can be very expensive but if you take the time to search for deals you will usually find a great holiday package for a very affordable price. The accommodations can be as simple as a tent or as luxurious as a five star hotel.

Safari itineraries can be purchased from three days long to fourteen days or longer. If you are adventurous enough you should consider a camping safari package. This is a great package for people on a budget but also camping in Kenya can be one of the most amazing experiences you will ever have. Camping trips can last from over night to several days depending on what you schedule.

You can even purchase a honeymoon safari package. Kenya safaris are ranked among the most romantic honeymoon destinations. If you take the time you need to plan correctly for this safari holiday you will have more fun than you ever thought possible. This will be a holiday that you will not soon forget.

Looking for some amazing Kenya safari? Take a look at the Luxury-Safaris website for some great safari holidays in Tanzania, Kenya and Botswana. The site features some of Africa’s best known game reserves, luxury safari lodges and tented safari camps. All the safari itineraries are fully escorted and financially protected.

Who has time for holiday

Author: Alan Hawkins
Source: articlesbase.com

Article # 22 – May 20th — Holiday Travel  Title:  Holiday’s — Who has the time  Writer:  Alan Hawkins   Keywords: Accommodation, South, Africa, Cape Town  ………………………………………………………………………………………………………….   Do we live to work or do we work to live. In this crazy world why is it that we simply exist from day to day, seemingly in continuous pursuit of problem solving objectives, be they those of your employer, your family, a child’s demands, we seem to be on this hamster wheel that never stops turning. There is an old cliché that tells us to stop and smell the roses, perhaps this is the better way to go. A “crooner” many years ago had an album, yes, a ling playing record, remember those, this was tiled “Stop the World, I want to get off” — if we apply this to the purpose of this article, let’s stop the madness and squeeze in some holiday and travel time.  In South Africa we are blessed, yes we might have experienced a little political turmoil but hey, so has Sri Lanka, the English parliamentarians haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory either, we are blessed with many destinations, many accommodation options and a climate that is often described as moderate in that day time temperatures in winter, yes winter, are on average more than 22 deg. C and rainfall, except perhaps in the Western Cape, is quite limited. Mist areas of Southern Africa experience light summer rains, often limited to afternoon shows and thundershowers particularly in the higher lying areas.  Our main tourism destinations are the game reserves and the Western Cape, centred around Cape Town, one of the internationally acclaimed and mist sought after travel destinations in the world. Unfortunately for our family, this is a nine hour drive and an expensive flight from East London, but certainly a destination we often visit, there is a great web site www.staysa.co.za which includes a travel guide and general information on Cape Town and many other areas.  Think about this for a moment, we work approximately 260 days of each year, we work in order to be awarded 15 days leave, if we are normal, we dedicate some 5 or so of those to family functions and that leaves us about two calendar weeks, weekends included, to have a holiday. Subject to all other conditions being acceptable such as budget, children’s school and sport commitments, both adults being able to be on leave simultaneously, the car being on good order, the kennel available for the dogs, whew, it’s actually amazing that we ever manage to leave home at all!  What we try and do as a family is to escape on weekends, at least once per month, this being our objective anyway, we target short trips usually less than two hours from home. We are blessed in owning holiday accommodation in Port Alfred, approximately one and a half hours drive from home. We go there if we are short of a better plan or if it’s been a last minute travel decision. Other recent destinations that are worth recommending in the Eastern Cape are Storms River Mouth, the Baviaanskloof, Addo Elephant Park, Seagulls Hotel on the Wild Coast, all being great short stop travel destinations in South Africa.  The moral of this story, make it your business to hop of the hamster wheel now and again, work to live, don’t love to work, quality family time is more important than we think it is sometimes.   YOUR INPUT IS CRITICAL…….. Please send any travel tip or travel idea to info@staysa.co.za Âhelp fellow travellers to enjoy safe and happy travelling.   Alan Hawkins — CEO – STAYSA
